injectors

What are the options for aftermarket injectors. I was looking at Sdx and ddp but I know there are more options and I can't remember them.

Low Budget Diesel Performance is another good one. The guys there were trained by and work with Weston. They do a great job and have competitive prices on their sets. CPP is another and last time I checked, they were having a sale. A set of 7x.010s at regular price are about $700, they were on sale for $400!!

I went with stock non inter cooled injectors to start .while I take mine 250 klm and tweek them by an injector shop in the area that has been doing turbos and injectors since 1983/ or by me. That way if I dont like what happens I can remove one or more and still drive the truck .I can get the parts and do the rebiuld my self to lessen the cost and I have a base line that is repeatable to compare .Once i get onset nicely set up I will take the other ones and go one step bigger .etc slow but exacting and im able to duplicate what specs I see . a set of nozzles is cheep compared to the whole injector

Isn't coaltrain out of business?

New era is another one I've heard of

Where's the best place to get tips? As far as these injector shops selling injectors, is there anything they do different to modify the injectors other than change the tips and pop test/balance them? If that's the case, I just want to get some tips and put them on my stockers and test them myself.

I had no luck working with the guys at Coaltrain or New Era when I was on the hunt for injectors. Horrible customer service. Specifically, returning phone calls no matter how many times you call and leave a voicemail. I'm glad I didn't give them any of my money. Others may have good reviews about them but they don't get my recommendation.

Thanks guys that is the kind of info I am looking for. Has anyone had any experience with Sdx? I am kinda leaning toward buying from them.

I understand that the guys at SDX have been trained by Weston as well. I've heard nothing but good about them.

I know their injectors are rebuilds and not new is there anything to worry about there? Also will I be ok running a set of 5x18s in my truck until I can get a bigger turbo and head studs?

Nothing wrong with a core body. They should be inspecting them before making them a set of "new" ones. At least that's what Low Budget did for me. If a used body functions just as well as a new one, why spend the extra coin?

5x.018s are awfully big squirters. You'd probably be ok running them with the stock turbo and head bolts. Just keep an eye on your gauges even more so with those injectors. You'll likely see more smoke than normal since the turbo may not throw quite enough air into the mix unless it's really spooled and at that point, it might be beyond efficiency range.

NO 5x18's are HUGE. hence why i did the twins

EGT's are uncontrollable and smoke is VERY uncontroalable.
i live in the mountains and empty i would have to drive staring at the pyro 1200-1500*.........and i put a trailer on(Had too) later that week, went 5km turned around and un hooked it............couldnt do it

a SDX 5x12 will do 400hp and a 5x14 450hp. what are your final goals?

but overall with the light tunning i have done with my truck i know the injectors will be great with the twins.
they dont haze bad at all at idle and its -15*c right now where i live, they run clean .

id buy a smaller SDX injector

forgot to mention i blew then intermidiate shaft out of my 518 two days after putting the injectors in............they make power

My goal is 450 or maybe a little more. The truck is only really a play truck. I want to get a bigger turbo but I need injectors first. I am tired of the haze from these pods. I want to get an injector I can run now if I detune the pump and will also support 450hp later when I get studs and a turbo.

Um, . .. with our IPs POP-pressure, get use to some haze with big injectors. Turning them down won't clean it up.

- You can throw a barrel of water out the window, or you can throw a bucket of water out the window. It's still a window . . . .

The haze with the pods is bad! I am thinking maybe I have one leaking a little. When I am stopped in traffic I put the truck in neutral to reduce the haze it is pretty darn bad.
