injector pump rebuild kits?

Anyone know where I can get the parts to rebuild my own injector pump? It is leaking somewhere towards the front of the pump. It is a 1989 CTD all original.

I put the guy that rebuilt my busted A727 Transmission on it while the truck is in his shop, and he could only find whole rebuilt units for $1100! I told him to hold off since the truck runs fine now, just drips fuel.

I though someone on our forum said that these 1st gen injector pumps could be rebuilt from kits for under $50 and were very user friendly. I should be up to the task, (I bust my knuckles on truck parts all day long and rebuilt my own road truck engine a few years ago)

Do you think I can get one at any good parts store? Looking for them on advanced auto or autozone web sites got me no place.

I did look at our sticky files at the beginning of our forum page and saw where something along those lines can be fixed with 4 black O rings. But I wasn't sure they were talking about a 1989 1st gen pump?

I'm so close to getting this bad boy back in service! After the old style vacuum pump fell apart and got upgraded, and the idler pulley laid down and got replaced, and the transmission dropped out and got remanufactured. Oil and filter changes. New lift pump. I'm getting close!

I'm hoping I can fix this injector pump leak myself!

I get mine here,
http://store.dieselcare.net/dieselparts.html

More than likely you will find it is the plate on the engine side of the pump that is attached with two screws and has an oring sealing it. This is a simple pump but it has to be kept sterile clean, like operating room clean when you work on it. I have a PDF file for rebuilding a VW pump which is just like ours except for one spring that I can email you if you want. Just send me your email address.

YES!! That was along the lines I was looking for!
Now I got to get the truck home and see what pump I have and what gasket kit to buy!
I might try reserching it out here (it's the original pump on the 1989) so I can get the parts ordered a day sooner!

Thanks rlyons!!

Theres a lot more parts in the pump than what is in the $15.95 gasket kit. Figure out where exactly the leak is coming from before you crack it open or start breaking seals. Some leaks travel and trail before you see the drip.

It's for the newer model trucks with the VP-44 pump.

The head oring can be replaced with the pump still on the truck if you are careful. Just remove the injector lines, loosen the bolts and slide the head back to expose the oring. Cut the old oring off and clean the groove and strech the oring over the head and into the groove. Slide the head back and tighten the bolts and you are good to go. Never did it on a Dodge but on the VW Bosche pump it has been done a lot and it is the same pump as ours only missing two cylinders.
