Injection pump swap
Injection pump swap
Will the injection pump off of a 90 interchange in a 92 bought the 90 for a parts truck and my 92 's pump started leaking again out of the vent tube and I don't have the time to tear it down right now
Yes it will work. Change out the DV's and install it. The leak you have is an easy fix I think?!?! If it's just leaking out of the rubber vent on the AFC pull the top and put the o-rings in the pin that slides into the fuel pin. I'm a newby and don't know what this is all called yet. I just did this last night on my spare pump top. I think but not sure Jim Lane has a sticky on it. Like I say I'm a newby here so let some of the more experienced chime in and give you better advise. Good luck and hope you get it fixed. Btw if this is it this is easier than pulling the pump!!!
Dv's. ? Don't know that abbreviation onley reason why I wanted to swap pumps the 90 truck onley has 140000 on it the 92 odo died at 200000 so I really don't know how many miles are on that pump and as far as I know it never has been rebuilt
DV=delivery valves. They are the things your injection lines hook onto at the back of your pump. The 90 is a different length than the 92, the 90 is non intercooled and the 92 is intercooled. Nothing to change them out BUT they are spring loaded and have several pieces in them. Set the pumps up side by side and swap them. Don't mix up the internals of the DV's. Oh a pencil magnet helps alot getting the dv guts out of the pump head. Sounds complicated but it's not! I think I'd reseal the 90 pump before installing, just saying it's alot of work to change out and find a leak. Good luck with your project!
Just noticed your a Texas guy, same here. Mark your injection lines. Number one is the front of the engine with number six at the back. Take notes where number one goes on the back of your pump and so on! There is vids on YouTube to help you, take pics, take notes, ect and you will be fine. It's a pita job but if you like working on your truck it's not bad! Hope I don't have you confused and good luck!

Bannerd I want the pump too but you ask first lol. He lives about 100 miles from me and freight would be expensive for your neck of the woods lol. Did I give him good info, if not set him on the right track.
Yea you gave good info now just need to pull boath pumps and get the job done and save some money and get the 92 pump rebuilt what make me mad is I just resealed the darn thing a year ago but I didn't know that much about the pump then and just sealed the external seals including the head seal but not the internal seal that the pin rides in guess that's my fault you live and learn with these old rigs
Ksb is different also. You could swap the non ic injection lines over for the little extra fuel the non ic DV's flow..just sayin.
Be 100% sure the keyway is lined up before torque is applied to the nut. Seems there has been a rash of guys lately getting that wrong.
Have fun.

93-12Smoke I live in Brownwood,Tx. You live ?? DFW?? A few 1st genners in Tx. 93flatbed I was going to knock the key out of my spare pump the other day and thought the key was narrow. After looking at it last night again I could tell it had been lined up wrong and had cut the key. Must be common occurrence.
