None of the above! I'll take a mid 80s K30 crew with singles and stick a VE fueled Cummins and NV4500 in it.

I have no interest in a truck that doesn't have locking hubs or a kingpin D60 front.

I also like the Chevy truck better than the Dodge end of the deal.

I think this poll has been done before... not that it's a bad thing! Umm, if I had to get a later model, I'd go with a 4th gen, but I'd prefer to wait 'til Cummins comes out with their answer to Ford and Chevy's new mills. I'm hoping they're going to hit it out of the park, 'cause those new engines the other two have come up with are making pretty darned good power for straight off the floor.

I bit the bullet. After riding in my Dad's buddies'.

I'll take an 01-02 Quad Cab Shortbed 4x4 with a 6 speed NV5600 mated to the HO motor.....I'll put a big honkin' fuel system in it and never worry about the VP going bad hopefully.

Electric blue or red sport with a Tan Leather interior in it would be a dream!!

hey-Hey!!!,
I like the Gen 1 motor a lot. I also thing the mid-80's F250 is a much nicer truck than the Gen 1 Dodge; 1984-1987 body and since I'm not after 4WD the front end is not a big factor. Not that I am a big fan of the king-pin'd twin-I-beam or anything...

If I were going to build one it would be a 1986, 2WD F250 with a NV5600 and a 4BT-3.9 and VE injection pump and water/air IC. That I can get close enough with a 1989-1991.5 Dodge leaves me buying one of those and I get to do some mods to the non-IC'd 5.9 drivetrain...heh-heh-heh.
cheers,
Douglas

X2! 80's GM with a 4BT or 6BT. If not a Cummins engine then a 453T aluminum version would be nice. Why?
GM's don't have the inner roof rust problem.
GM's don't have the cowl cracks problem.
GM's don't have the vent leaks.
Used parts are locally more plentiful & generally cheaper.
New aftermarket and GM factory replacement parts more readily available.

If it had to be another Dodge then next on the list would be a second gen Dodge with Cummins.

If I couldn't buy one I would build one. There are plenty of industrial and marine engines out there and plenty of 93 to the beginning of time time Dodge trucks to put it in.

Are you insane ?? My dad's owned about 20 73-87 trucks in the last 5 years and those things have the worst wind whistles ever coming from those vent windows. the only way to shut them up is to silicone them. lol
