Ice cold AC now.
After reading about the evaporator core getting clogged up with trash and such. I decided to take a look see at mine. My gosh it is a wonder it even worked at all. After cutting a hole in the plastic to get to it with a die grinder. I pulled 2 big handfulls out of the box then several smaller amounts. Then got the shop vac in there and sucked the rest out. The fins were still clogged with fine stuff so I got the water hose and a stiff brush and cleaned it all out. Then made a patch panel out of some 16 guage steel put some screws in it and turned it on. I can now get the temps down to 40deg and not have it freeze up plus it blows much harder now too. A well spent afternoon.
I just took a peek through the vent. It's totally clogged and I get 57 out of the vent and it cycles constantly. I need to do this fix and get some real air going.
It's like 105 in my truck when I get in it in the afternoon. That's with tinted windows and a solar shade in the windshield. Takes the whole trip home to get cooled down.

That's the way mine was too. Here are some good instructions that were posted for this.

well it's not draining in... there is something back there that was getting cold enough to get condensation all over it... enough to eventually drip. i guess it was acting like a dehumidifier in the truck.

The dripping out of the intake vent is due to the drain being clogged. Mine has done it numerous times. Usually it comes out the vent on a left turn...on the gf's feet

It's under the hood below the evap box. Just roll the tube between your fingers. Don't be suprised when crunchy crud and a TON of water comes out. See photo below

Well I cracked open the box front.

My temps dropped and I was seeing about a 25-28 degree differential between cab temp and vent temp. No more cycling like crazy. Lowest temp I saw was 52 and I got the cab down to 75. It was 102 in the cab when I started. My house AC is set on 78 and it feels cool to me
The fan is blowing some serious air now. The little vent blades were flapping in the breeze.
Now that it's not cycling like mad, maybe I can put part of another can in it.

I'm going to check mine out now. Mine blows ok, but in Tucson I could use it a bit colder
After thinking over cutting open the front of that box and having to repair it, I think I came up with a decent alternative.
The far right hand side you see in the photos of Den's site a "waffle" grid like structure. The top of the grid is far enough up behind the glove box to be hidden from view.
I took a small fine tooth hacksaw blade and cut the slats on the top two runs of the grid and then took a very flexible vacumm hose (about an inch in diameter and ran it down and to the left where the condenser is. I pulled out a ton of trash and don't have to repair what I cut because its out of view and when you throw the switches for the vents, the hole gets covered completely.
I can't "scrub" the condenser but I got a lot of trash and leaves out of it.

Hey, since i dont have an AC how does the defrost pull the moisture out of the air? All i have is floor vents and defrost.
Maybe i will just get a big AC convertor and put a small windo unit for a house in the back window.
Thats not too redneck is it?
