Took this pic just North of Tuscon, on my way home. The mileage is not correct, because the odometer didn't work for 12 years or so. It is still cool, especially with no major work done on the engine...Mark

Mark,
My top speed with a 727 going downhill and a tail wind is about 85 mph.
Sent you a message thinking you were still in Mexico.

Mark,

How did you get your camera to work in those "sub-zero" temperatures inside your cab ?

Plug in heater for the camera ??

It was quite a feat, a lot of moving parts, now I know why they should ban texting while driving. The good thing about our rigs is that I had a mile to get a pic. I kept the camera inside the ice chest to keep it warm. It's also an Olympus "polar model", everyone in Arizona has one. ...Mark

You need to get a getrag and push your pump to the head. Don't tell anyone, over 85 is criminal in AZ and I'm too old to be anyone's wife in prison......Mark

P.S. I needed to get the needle out if the way......

FWIW, my brick wouln't go above 80 before the 3200 spring.

Afterwords, it now flies past that well into the 90's, but I'm scared to go any faster...and I chicken out after 90-95mph.

Chicken .... I know.

As I was going nutz on my way home, I thought about how the first digit, the 2, has come around once, the next digit 20 times, the next 200, the next 2000, the next 20000 times and the final one 200000 times. I don't know which is worse being drunk or thinking about stuff like this.....Mark

I still had pedal left and didn't mean to go so fast, just wanted to get the needle out of the way. It is tough to multi-task while driving. All that has been done to this pump is it is pushed to the head, although, I don't really know because I bought it rebuilt off the interweb and the instructions said to push it to the head. Maybe they did something and didn't tell me...Mark

That would make a good story...

You got that right, I probably would have just assumed the position, if you know what I mean...Mark

Don't fib, you are a wee bit OCD, right?

Otherwise there would have been no need to get that speedo needle perfectly level with the digits...........

Feng Shi for your Cummins.

Well, while that is true, you have apparently never driven on an Arizona freeway. The speed limit is 75 and everyone goes at least 80, so slowing down would have been much more dangerous. I was barely going faster than everyone else, and only for about 20 or 30 seconds. I normally go a couple mph's under the limit and everyone passes me. Makes for a much more enjoyable trip...Mark

I didn't know over 85 MPH was a criminal offense, I was doing 85 or so on the highway in Az last time I was there as the speed limit is 75 and everyone else is doing 80+

Yup, I was doing 73-75 and many cars were passing me like I was stopped. Most people don't know the difference between a civil ticket and a criminal traffic offense. The law is actually 20 mph over the posted limit or 85 Maximum. It is completely up to the officer whether you go to jail or not. Other criminal offenses are reckless driving, drag racing and felony dui. I was doing 87 once and got stopped by DPS at about 3:00 AM. I was lucky because he was cool and explained all of the above to me and let me go with a warning. I am sure that professional courtesy had nothing to do with it ...Mark
