I found a 4bt today
Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford, Toyota and GM all have 2.0l and 3.0l diesels in other countries. The Toyota Tacoma has been the best selling truck in my home country, (New Zealand) since 1980. Although, that's both diesel and gas. In Europe probably every single manufacturer has at least one diesel mill to install. Even the 2.0l that they put in the new Jetta's would be a great small truck engine, let along their V12! The Japanese OEM's are mostly 4 cylinder engines, which probably wouldn't fly over here except in Rangers and the smaller Tacomas etc... I dunno, I just don't get it.

And sorry to Bill for completely hijacking his fine thread.
Did you end up getting that van Bill?

No worries on the hijack it happens and I have done it to lol. I did get the van but I still haven't had time to go get it but I know the guy well it isn't going anywhere. I hope to get it this comming week.
I'd believe those figures in a second.
It just floors me that American vehicle manufacturers don't build small-bore diesels. The only reason I can think of is that petroleum companies are throwing their weight around, squashing any diesel ideas so they can sell more gasoline to consumers who get pathetic mpg's, meaning a bigger profit for them.
...yeah, I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist.

Now I might suggest how they're constructed...heh-heh-heh.cheers,

Not at atll. Reporting on actions as I've witnessed and taken part in. It really upsets me to see those who are effectively responsible for my paycheck acting so poorly. Their capability to do things well does amaze me, it just needs to be directed properly.
The new Diesel stuff is fantastic, I'll just have to build it myself. For the car it means a manual Fusion body and the drivetrain from a Transit Connect( 110 HP, 1.8Litre DuraTorq, MTX75 5spd with the 3.8 FDR ). The truck will remain my 1990, and if ever I get motivated I'll build something with a 4BTA in it.
cheers,
Douglas

Congratulations, I just got a 4bt with a 4psd Myself. Apparently the 93-95 chevy GMC nv4500 will fit just fine behind it, I read the fw, clutch and pressure plate You have work with it too.
Anyone have a couple 93-95 GMC nv4500 they want to sell for cheap

Did ya know, Mikhail Gorbachev [ever heard that name before?] was top dog CEO or 'Chairman' of the Green Party? The Green's are led by the ex-chairman of the USSR! What may we suppose the hidden intent there may be? Hint: it ain't about trees and butterflies and healthy daisies and clean air....
I'll see your conspiracy, and raise ya Commie slimeball scumsucking subversive anti-American sleazebags undermining our entire economy & way of life! The #1 reason WE don't have any great little high-powered, ultra-economy diesels is the environmental movement's actions, implemented through the ever-loveable EPA.

Y'all watch waaaay too much X-Files...LMAO...

Unfortunately it is far simpler than that. In my case, there are a few folks who say, 'I don't like diesels'...and then direct/cherry pick the marketing research folks in such a way that the only 'believable' answer that comes back is 'no diesels'.

What I don't understand about this is what peoples' problems are with diesel. And because I don't understand that leads me to believe someone's getting backhanders...Sounds like that 'hybrid' vehicle of yours should be mass marketed Douglas!
Patent it now if you can.
Yeah, that's way more believable than any conspiracy theories. Just makes me sick.

Hah, good stuff! Actually I've never seen X Files. Haven't had a TV since maybe '85 when my last one had a freak accident involving 12 ga. 00 buck, weird....
No doubt whatsoever there's several things involved. Just suggesting that one of them may be what I posted, while the others are part of it too. Too complicated for me...
