I finally got a fuel pressure gauge installed
It's an autometer electrical gauge, 0-30 psi. I also had that banjo fitting that everybody gets from Geno's.
At idle it bobbles between 17-20
Driving around it's between 15-20
The lowest I could get it down to was 12 psi.
I thought maybe my lack of top end was due to:
1. Lack of fuel on top
2. Not enough timing
3. 65 mm turbine (Note that I had way more top end with an HE351 with 60 mm turbine)
So, unless my guage is not reading correctly, #1 is ruled out I think.
Thoughts?

Number 1 being ruled out is good. I can't, however, see number 3 being possible. It doesn't make sense that you would have had more top end with the 351 once both chargers are fully lit.
Is the M&H spacer the only timing you're running? I guess that should put you at around 31 degrees max. If it were mine, I might bump it an eighth to get you around 35-36 degrees...see how that does.

Yeah, that's all the timing I can run. My pump is siliconed to the motor and cannot rotate.
Soon I will be having that PDR pump put in, and I think I'm going to have the timing advanced a tooth when I do. I'm not sure if I'm going to move the dynamic timing device over to the new pump.
Another thing is, I am hard pressed to touch 1400* on EGT's. Could it be the injection pump is just not up to snuff? I have always thought it was a bit weak. It wouldn't run away when I cranked the full power screw.

Siliconed, huh? Not sure I know enough to guess why that would be beneficial.
Your pump has gotta be the weak link, though. That's a fine turbo you have there, but with those sticks you should be able to get over 1400 degrees if you try (I would think). You throwing the new PDR piece on there soon?

lol, there is no benefit to doing that. It's just for shops that have no gaskets I suppose.
I'm going to get my truck to a shop (not the silicone shop though) as soon as I get a day off.
I forgot to tell you, Brian block tweaked that PDR pump when he had it and got an extra 30-40 cc out of it.

Does your idle drop after you drive the truck a ways and get it pretty warm? If it does, it could be your pump. Mine does this but it still seems to run really strong, just a lower idle. I would mess around with your
timing some more or might even check for boost leaks or somethin.
Are you getting full travel?

Wow, that is impressive that he was able to get that much more fuel out if it after PDR had already worked it over. That should put you at around 300cc peak, right? Very strong for a 12mm VE.
Almost makes me wish I had sent my Haisley Machine VE off to Brian before it went on the truck.

Who told you this about BD? It seems odd that a company started by a legend in the 12V world like Piers would turn to BD diesel to make a pump for them. Seems like they would get them from Scheid or Garmon's Diesel. Not calling you a liar by any means, just seems unlikely.
Also, resources are not what it takes to make a good Hot Rod VE. It takes knowledge. Brian (the guy that tweaked Head's 12mm pump to nearly 300cc's) does it in his garage with an $80 grinder (his words, not mine). He just knows EXACTLY what he's doing.
