hx40 question
hx40 question
what does it take to bolt up a hx40 on a stock setup? and what are the differences as far as size and benefits? i am stock right now and want to start the upgrades. but when i was trying to read all of the posts using the search option i didnt find a single answer......and it left me with more questions--so i started this to try and get a def. answer. thanks in adance
Make sure you get one made for a T3 manifold. T3 is the bolt spacing on the manifold. A majority of 40's are T4. You'll also need a 4" down pipe. Factory is only 3". Other than that they bolt right up. The other thing to look at is exhaust housing size. You'll want to use on with a 16cm housing. Anything bigger and it'll be a laggy pig.
I'd recomend getting a super hx40. They move more air then and standard 40. I had one in a twins setup and it was a good turbo.

hey-Hey!!!,
If y'all will pardon the hijack...is it possible to put an 8-blade compressor on a Super 40? I don't think I'll need that much flow and the higher efficiency of the 8-blade is attractive...expecially combined with the bigger turbine wheel mated to a 16 cm housing.
cheers,
Douglas
