HX-35w

how much would a wastegated hx-35 be worth if the motor's never been in a truck and probably has only a few hours of run time on it?

I could see it going for around $200-250. What year engine was it on?

'98.5 24 valve. the motor is beautiful! been on a stand in my diesel class it's entire life. and like i said has only been run for a maximum of probably 3 hours. never been in a truck. my instructor's retiring at the end of this semester and i'm trying to get the motor to put into my dad's 86 F350. if not the motor, i'm gonna get that hx-35. everything on it's mint! even has a gear driven air compressor below the pump! and has a good sound to it with no exhaust.

If you can get that for 200-250 bucks, that would be a sweet deal. I got one that had about 90k on it for 250 bucks, and I feel like I got a pretty good deal.

I have that same turbo on my truck. You'll need to get a different tail housing for it if you plan on using a 1st gen style down pipe.

And so you posted it again? Way to respect the forum...

Ask the man to send you a PM if you have something you think he could use. We don't allow advertising in the forums, that is why we provide a free classifieds section.

Normally I would explain this more politely via PM but quite frankly your lack of respect has me a little irritated.

I did not ask for any money for it, I just said I had it available if he was interested.

Would have given it to the guy had he expressed interest.

I find if you say out loud in a forum, "I have this thing and you can have it for free" then everybody wants it.

hx-35's have a 12cm exhaust housing stock right? how would that run on my truck? that seems awfully small. egt's be too high wouldn't they? especially having a non I/C motor?

The HX-35 from the 98.5 24V is a one off. It doesn't have the wastegate actuator mount on the compressor housing. It looks just like a 12V hx-35 except that it has a special pinwheel and base. It is a smaller base diameter 54 pinwheel so if you want to do an htt/gillette upgrade you'd need to machine the base. OR just leave it alone like I did. pushes air like a stock hx-35 but spools much faster.

Yes the major diameter of the base of the compressor wheel is smaller. It is a trick they pulled for .5 year to try to lighten the compressor rotating mass to enable it to spool faster and clear up smoke earlier.

Read up here on all of the disclaimers....

http://www.gillettdiesel.com/turboch...pgrades-3.aspx

"NOTE: ON 1998.5 24 VALVE TRUCKS THE COMPRESSOR WHEEL SIZE WAS REDUCED FROM A 56MM INDUCER TO A 54MM INDUCER COMPRESSOR WHEEL WITH A SMALLER MAJOR DIAMETER. THIS REQUIRES CUTTING THE BEARING HOUSING TO ACCOMIDATE ALL OF THE COMPRESSOR HOUSING AND WHEEL COMBINATIONS LISTED BELOW! "
