When the heat is on, the door is supposed to be closing off the in-cab inlet, the same as the off position.

So the door is only open when it is on max AC? The only way I get heat is if I open that door by hand to shut out cold air.

Only open on Max AC. Is your vacuum operated valve in the heater lines working? IIRC the flap for the temperature blend is run by cable directly from the dash lever, and I'm assuming that you are getting normal operating temperature on the dash gauge.

Normal operating temp. The heater core is 2 years old. The valve in the hose (next to the firewall) I have taken out completely. The damper door seems to function properly. It runs out of travel when it is on "hot." The only way I can get heat in the cab is if I disconnect the servo that controls that recirculate door, and rig it open. I have run out of ideas so that is how it's gonna stay when I go back to school tomorrow, and probably until this summer when I can get someone to re-claim the refrigerant for me. (or until someone else comes up with a genius idea) lol

Your heater core or lines are most likely clogged somehow. If you have good operating temperature, then it sounds as though you aren't getting flow through your heater core.

Sounds to me like the outside air inlet is plugged up somehow...

where could it be drawing cold air from? It is blowing the same volume of air as when the door is in the "recirculate" or "max AC" position, but it is cold. It does make sense that it could be taking cold air from somewhere else though, because with the door in "recirculate" and the damper to cold, it will cool the cab off, but not like if the door was the way it is supposed to be. Where do I have to go to clean the outside air inlet out?

Outside air comes in through the cowl and down the kick panel area.

Okay. I will check it out. I am really confused by the whole thing. It is probably something simple that just hasn't crossed my mind yet. -always is.

I should actually follow up on this here: When recirculate door is open all the windows fog up from the moisture in your breath. Good way to stay warm in a pinch tho.
