How much power have I got?

How much power have I got?

The reason I ask is the following.

I raced my brother in law,he has a 2001 350 with 4" straight exhaust k+n filter 85hp chip,I beat him 0-70mph by a truck length

I just got back from a camp out weak end with my inlaws,we where both at the bottom of a very long 6% hill,we both started at 60mph at the bottom,I beat him to the top by about 100 yards,I was doing 55mph,I was pulling a 7500lb fifth wheel camper,he was pulling a 6800lb camper he has a 1999 with stock exhaust, with muffler and cat cut out,and a k+n filter.

I have turned my pump up 1-1/2 turns, and the other mods in my sig.

my egt's shut me down first on a long hill,I could hit 1500 if I let it,I did hit 1400 for a bit while racing my father in-law with the campers,my boost is at 25psi max,and my tranny will hit 240 if I dont back out of it,but I can hold 2500 rpm on all hills under any load so far (I think my torque converter just slips)thanx

It sounds to me like you just out-torqued him on the hill. Cummins Turbo Diesel torque strikes again. I was watching Hot Rod TV on Sunday, they did a bunch of work on a Chevy gasser and ended up with a little under 200 RWHP. You're probably in the 200 RWHP range.

With only pump mods and late timing on my 93 I had around 22 psi boost and put down 201 RWHP.

I have a feeling you are near the 225 mark for sure, but your torque would be well over 600 ft-lbs.

I should have been more clear in my original post,All the above trucks are Cummins Turbo Diesels.

The wierd thing is that my brother in laws truck is stock 235hp?? plus 85hp chip, and I still beat him.

and my father inlaw is stock 235hp,and I beat him easily, while pulling a heavier trailer,

I should mention that the other trucks are 6spd and 5 spd transmissions respectivly, maybe that has to do with it.thanx again.

AHA! You weren't telling the whole story! Yes, your auto will win you a drag race with a more powerful truck, that's why you whomped B-I-L with his shiny new truck. You beat F-I-L with pure torque. That tweaking on the fuel screw gets you a lot of torque, you probably out-torque him by 80 - 100 ft/lbs. Not bad for a lil' ol' truck.

I'm wondering the same thing, How much hp/torque would I have? It runs the best right now than ever before. I can build 29 lbs. of boost very quickly and produce a dark haze at WOT.

It still has the stock turbo, 4" exhaust, BHAF, 3200 GS, cone pin turned towards truck front, smoke screw 1/3 up from bottom, star wheel 1/2 up from bottom. Synthetics in the T case and rear end.

The pump, lines, and injectors have 12,000 miles. The truck has 129,000 miles. It seems to get stronger and stronger over time. If it's raining, it will spin duals 20-30'

What do you think????
