How much HP/TQ will I gain with the IC installed?
I know its pretty much a neccesity if you run PODs to have an IC, but on and old 89 non IC with the basic mods and as much fuel as I can push through the stock injectors how much HP/TQ will I gain with just the IC?
I will update my sig as soon as I get a chance, but I have all the free mods listed + 3200 spring and ground AFC foot, strait pipe, open K&N with 5" 45* bend into the turbo. Fuel screw is about 2.5 turns, and I get a steady dark haze out the exhaust at full throttle. Not pure smoke like some, just a heavy haze.

The main thing with intercooling is that it increases your max power threshold. A non intercooled truck is capable of making the same power as an intercooled truck. The intercooler allows you to make more power for longer before egt gets critical.
Usable HP I'd guess 20-40hp. Of course I guessing someone will post and prove me completely incorrect.

That's pretty well got it. In a diesel, fuel=power. Period. (for the sake of this thread, anyway) Adding an I/C will simply allow you to use the fuel available with your current pump settings/injectors for a longer period of time (you can keep your foot in it longer). Having said that, an I/C will increase the density of the incoming air, giving an overall more efficient burn. You should be excited not about the power the I/C will give you, but the power that it will allow you to ADD.

Oh, well thats good and bad. I'm spending half what I bought the truck for on an IC setup and won't feel the power till I get POD's. Oh well, I can still make my money on it when I sell it. LOL
i have added a lot of fuel to my non ic truck and i dont have a problem with egts. I ahev upgraded the turbo but i am pumping a lot of fuel soon to be MORE. with my mod (see sig) my egts under full throtle run from 0 only get to 1050 if that. i need more fuel. well not need want

Lucky devil. I can see that POST turbo if I don't watch the loud pedal application...maybe some more timing...naah, I like my head gasket right where it is, hehe.

It's only a WH1C, but exterior dimensions are the same. It's a little tricky when retaining the stock crossover pipe, but it's what I plan to do. Thanks to member Edwinsmith for the pic.

Must be nice to have some cool air. I don't have enough air as it is period. I can peg my 1500 deg pyro in 4th n/m what it would go to in 5th. Hey Sammy340 good job on the IC conversion looks great, how much did it end up costing you?

G1625S, you forgot the other component in the equation, AIR. FUEL + AIR = POWER. Fuel equals smoke which is not power. Need air too for the power
. But you are right about as the air gets cooled its gets denser.
