How much AC compressor oil? How much R-12
How much AC compressor oil? How much R-12
I have done a total overhaul to my AC system, new everything.
Going to dump the oil out of the new compressor and replace the oil because I don't know what type it came with.
I'll measure the oil that comes out of the new compressor and refill the same amount but how much more oil will I need to add to the system when it comes time to recharge.
I plan to use R-12, and oil that is compatible with R-12 and R-134
How much R-12 should I add?

Ok, the book says (does not specify which engine so I assume its the same for all???????) 135cc +/- 15cc or 4.6 cu. in. +/- .5 cu. in. of 500 viscosity refrigerant oil. It does not say to add oil when you charge it. Just says the pump uses the above. For refrigerant it says (3) 14oz cans with a max of 44 ounces total.
When I bought my new compressor from Napa the book showed 4.75 - 7.25 ounces.
Since I am using R-12 Dichlorodifluoromethane I filled it with Mineral Oil, Napa Part # 209500.
The book also showed 44.0 Ounces of R-12 Dichlorodifluoromethane this is Genuine R-12 and not a Drop In, check with the manufacture but almost all of the substitutes charge to 80%
I dispensed my R-12 from a Bulk 30# drum so I measured it with a digital scale, I wanted to see how many ounces it took to clear the sight glass so I filled it only until there were no more bubbles and there was a clear stream and it took exactly 2lb 0oz @ 80* ambient temperature.

Are you planning on using something like Freeze-12 or R-12 Dichlorodifluoromethane?
3x14=42
Seems they make this impossible unless you are using bulk.

I have a 30 LB cylinder of R-12 I bought before it went off the market.
I picked up something called PAoil, in case I ever needed to convert to R-134 in the future
Thanks for the help.
