How loud is a 3" straight pipe?
I figured for the money ($90), it was the way to go to get the truck back to a baseline to then think about mods.
The existing exhaust was so bad (kinked almost closed and with a baffled, gas-type muffler) that it just had to go ASAP.
As time, motivation, and funds allow, I'll probably go to a 4" system with a muffler, Stans or the like.
Thanks for the input!

straight pipe on my 90 was too loud for this deaf old man. put 3 in. flow master on made me much happier. ran both at the strip times were the same. only one week apart temp was same both nites.
I had a 3 inch with a straight pipe for awhile and really liked the way it sounded. I then put a 4" system from stans with a straight pipe and liked it even better. It seems to have a much deeper sound to it, even the chevy gasser boys love it. They are both pretty loud i think. I actually got pulled over on the interstate for loud exhaust not too long after i put the 4" on. Wasnt too happy about that.
If you want to be more quiet you can put a turndown on the tip, it will put the sound into the ground instead of echoing straight into the popo's eardrums.
I know I know ... turndowns are for people over the age of 60 only... :-/
