how long will a stock clutch.....

last once it starts to smell while pulling hills? If i'm empty, no trailer, not getting after it and driving really nice?? she still is firm, doesn't feel like its slipping, just smells like, well a smoking clutch. It needs to last a while, i hope, i drive over 60 miles a day. Over the last year ive noticed it, it was slipping on the drive up here last year, but i was over 20k. I pulled some yahoo in a powerstroke out of a pond this spring and it stunk something fierce then too. now, its just driving im noticing it.

How much does that big ol' flatbed weigh?........ even unloaded, you're hauling a good load.......

My .02 is that once you smell a clutch, it's all but done......

Better start saving your nickels instead of just your pennies.

Don't discard the chance that there may be something going on with your Master/Slave Cylinder. Get under the truck and check to make sure you can physically push the clutch fork level Aft and away from the slave cyl rod. If you cannot do that, the slave cyl is pushing on the fork causing you to lose pressure on the clutch and slip!
