Trying to make a engine make that barking sound is not a good thing to do. You can break the shaft in the turbo. It is spinning really fast and then almost comes to a stop.

I agree with field boss... what 93beater is describing is one of the worst things you can do to your turbo. The problem here is that you are thinking "gasser" Gassers require a BOV because they have a throttle plate. When they let off the boost that has built has nowhere to go, the BOV takes care of that. When we let off, it just cuts the fuel, causing the motor to run a little lean until the boost is "used" What you are hearing on the second gen trucks are call MWE (map width enhancement) slots. They are what give it that cool whistle. Second gens also have either a 12cm or 9cm exhaust housing that allows it to build boost really fast, you may even hear a little whistle at idle. The slots also perform some of the same function as a BOV, allowing the unused boost to escape without stalling the impeller blade though I am not sure that's all they are meant for. Someone correct me if i'm wrong!

Edit: forgot to answer your question... to get the sound either swap on an hx-35 or get a compressor upgrade that has the slots.

I second that, and if you have the big kahones like mine does it will make enough noise when you shift (if yours is a stick) to make people look when you're a block away. That's when you're driving like granny. Want it louder? Add thin wall aluminum intake tubing with rubber elbows between the turbo and filter, this actually amplifies the sound. BC847's stock pot BHAF also further amplifies the whine and whoo. I can hear the whine in the cab all the time while driving at any speed no load. It's stupid loud folks, no joke.
