it's just a matter of removing the 2 bolts holding the KSB on and the pressure regulator and line that feeds the KSB. M&H supplies longer bolts and new o-ring. place the advance piston spring and shim back in the pump, spacer between the KSB and housing.. bolt it back up and install the regulator and line!

That's what I was getting at, in my roundabout convoluted way.

From what i understand after reading this entire thing.... two times at some points...
This KSB works like the vacuum advance on your gasser distributor, it advanced the ignition timing depending on rpm or load. Except this works differently because there is no vacuum on a diesel.
This mod allows the advance mechnism to move more than stock, 6.4mm, as the rpms climb. As opposed to the stock 2.4mm allowed travel.
SO...No matter where the IP is positioned this will allow more timing advance.

This seems like the compliment to the 3200gsk spring. Now throw a fuel pin on top of it all...watch out tires, you don't stand a chance.

how does the 2.4mm or 6.4mm of advance convert into degrees of timing?

The more I look at this piece the more I want to try it. Does the regulator line need to be horrible bent to get it to install with the new spacer? Either way this seems to be a great upgrade as long as the piston cant move too far and get stuck. Actually I cant really see that happening... I think I have added this to my wish list..

This thread may or may not answer your ? https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...timing+degrees

From what I've read, a tooth is equivalent to an 1/8". 72 teeth on the pump gear, so 1/8" = 10°. I just checked online and 2.4mm = 1/8", (well, not EXACTLY but pretty darned close.) Therefore, 2.4mm = 10° timing. Confused yet?!

i probably know the answer to this question but when pulling the KSB, does the fuel drain out of the pump??

when i pulled one of the bolts (the one nearest the cab) some came out but not much. i dont know how much is in the pump but i bet only 1/8 cup or less came out. the truck started up as it normally would when i first fired it up.
