Hood Scoops

Show me your scoops. I would like to get some fresh ideas on hood scoops on the first gens. up to '93. What I want is a functional scoop that looks good too. I guess it is the old hotrodder in me that needs this.

i heard that "wet dog shake" on shutdown tears em up... i do think it'd look pretty sweet though. doesn't the "scotty" system (on 2nd and or 3rd gens) use a scoop? if so maybe his system could be modified to fir a 1st gen

I was thinking about building a air box similar to what some of the dragcars are running but putting it right of center under the hood. The scoop would supply fresh air and a foam gasket would seal the air box on the underside of the hood. I guess I will just have to spend 50 bucks and see what it looks like. Won't be the first time I threw money away. I can baffle the intake to keep rain off the filter. Of course I can always do the stock pot routine but that's been done. And a fine job it was too.

Mount a big chrome filter housing off a KW or Pete on the front fender.

You know I was thinking about this the other day. What about a stack through the hood also.

Believe it or not I thought of that too. I am afraid I'll knock it off when I run through the woods chasing Bambi But it sure would look neat sitting just in front of the passsenger's door. Is my red neck showing?

I think a "shaker" style scoup would be cool, and would eliminate the wet dog shake damage.
I am really considering building a shaker and putting a black 5" stack through the hood. The only concern I have is bleeding from the ears when I jam on it.
I wonder if it would be louder than cab stacks????

Shouldn't be too bad as long as you are wearing ear plugs and ear muffs. . I wonder what those Waiverly troopers would say to that?

Why does the cowl need to be in the middle of the hood?

I guess it doesnt "Need" to be in the center but I try to be as ballaced as possible
As far as how to plumb the air duct. I was thinking of hard plumbing the from the turbo to a Air pan mounted just above the valve covers, Then a mateing pan on the hood. No real detail but I'm a engineer as I go type of guy.
