high oil pressure question

last week i ran over some sticks that fell down in the storm we had and i got out of the truck to move a branch from the road and when i got back into the truck the oil light was on. when i got to work i checked the dip stick and it was in the safe level. also i noticed when i stomp on it the oil pressure climbs to the notch just below the high mark. so im wondering if the light is on because of a stick hitting the sensor and i just have not noticed the oil pressure gauge moving before or if there is somthing else going on. any ideas or clues on what to look for would be welcome. thanks guys, Ryan

I'm going to venture a guess that your problem lies in the sender. Mine did the same thing. I replaced the sender and problem solved.

i looked the oil pan over for dents and leaks and did not see anything. i also looked at both sides of the block thinking maybe i blew my head gasket but again i did not see anything. when i checked the oil it was not milky and it did not smell like fuel so im not sure what the problem is? the truck runs and drives the same it's just the light really bothers me so maybe ill start with the sending unit and see where that gets me?

I'd just do the sending unit. If you have any doubts throw a gauge on there first. The sending unit is kinda known for failure. It's a pretty inexpensive part too, IIRC.
