HELP! Where can I get ball joints for 4500# Axle
I just bought a 92 W250 from the original owner with 89K mile on it. It pulls to the right pretty hard so I figured I would get a list of parts together to rebuild the front end. The truck has the optional 4500# front axle. I cannot find any place to buy these. I just got off the phone with the local Dodge dealership and they said I can't get ball joints for that axle anymore. I hope this is wrong. If anyone has experience with this please share.
King Pin or ball joint
Sorry for my lack of knowledge about the difference in a W250 and D250. From what I just read my W250 does not have ball joints like my D250 instead it has king pins. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

the dana 60 in any w250 or w350 that came factory with the cummins does NOT have ball joints. The lower joint is a tapered needle bearing and the upper joint is a hardened pin with a nylon bushing. Usually just they nylon bushing needs replaced, usually....
That is good to know. I am currently doing my king pins and I got the kit from Quad 4x4. It comes with everything, including locktight, anti-seize compound and silicone. I also am replacing the upper pin. I thought that it looked good, but after I got it out and looked at it real close, I found that it was worn in a kind of "star" pattern. I believe that the lines in the plastic bushing caused them. Mark

I bought the upper pin kit from quad 4x4 and it came with the 7/8" allen wrench and a 3/4 drive socket for it. I used a 3/4" breaker bar, heat, pb blaster, repeat and an 8' long cheater bar:

Yeah. and I am racing the triple digits here in sand land. The wrench fits so well that it easily supports all that leverage and does not come out of the pin. It fits into it at least an inch. In this process, I broke a 1/2" breaker bar and the pin laughed at my 2000 ft pound impact wrench. Any engineers that can figure the torque generated by 8' of leverage and a 160 pound man leaning on it?..Mark
Ha. Well, I've got 15 lbs on you, so maybe that'll help, eh?
I was thinking I was going to purchase the individual side kits from 4wd factory, instead of quad4x4...gives me food for thought.

Between the upper pin kit and the rebuild kit, it comes with everything you need, except the inner wheel bearing seal if you are going to pack your bearings while your in there...Mark
