i need to know where the stock temp sender is for the coolant. my gauge went dead and i am leaving for a 1400 mile round trip tonight... it's wierd and seems to be tied to the oil pressure unit somehow. i pulled the dash and each individual gauge and use dielectric grease (neatly) just about everywhere. i put everything back together, and no difference. here's the wierd part, i put some dielectric grease on the connection to the oil pressure sender (practically brand new) and got back in the truck and had some sort of reading, hit the go pedal (tapped it) and the temp sensor bounced up to where it probably should have been for a split second then came back down... what is the deal!?

 

if you have a few gauges acting wrong it could be grounding problem

 

Make sure you don't use too much grease, it does conduct electricity, so too much will act like water in the plug shorting things out.

The temp sensor is at the back of the head on the drivers side. You should see the wire going up there. It's kind of hard to see. Some of them like mine have a resistor in the line for some reason.
