help me win an argument

my buddy claims that his auto trannied 93 W250 makes 250+ HP.

i say there's no way, since all it has is a banks exhaust and a K&N air cleaner.

is there any chance his truck is making 250+HP with those mods?

With just those mods I would say no, not even flywheel HP. But with a couple of other sneeky mods that would be no problem.

Not a chance with exhaust and intake he might be making an extra 20 hp over stock you put exhaust and intake on truck more than likely you won't even see more power at all on a Dyno just fuel economy and quicker spool up a little lower on EGT's you friend is funny

Not a chance. Even with a fully cranked stock pump hed be at least 30 h.p. short.

to be fair, he was using some formula like 1lb of boost = 10 HP and since his boost pressure is about 25lbs he figured his truck made 250.

thanks

If that formula were true, I'd be running 420hp...

He's not making 25 lbs of boost with a stock pump and injectors. He must have more mods than just the intake and exhaust.

Well I'm running 32psi of boost and I am also putting 373 RWHP down on Piers Dyno - I guess I'll have to give 53 RWHP away
Anyone want to buy 53 RWHP ?

With stock injectors/turbo and quite a few fuel pump mods, I was able to get 229hp to the rear wheels last year at a DTR event. I still had some fuel left to claim through addtional pump mods, but I doubt that I could have reached 250hp on the stock injectors. If all that was done to your buddy's truck was air/exhaust he MIGHT have 150hp at the rear wheels.

Spunbearing, I can reach 26-27 psi of boost with my stock pump and injectors. Well, I do have a 3200 gov spring, but seems I could still get 25psi before the spring.

This seemsto be a common max for a stock pump and injector setup, from what I gather in the forums.

Not very likely, or rather no way, is he making thta horsepower with those mods. Exhaust mods are great, but you can have all of the capacity to get rid of exhaust in the world, and it won't do you a bit of good if you can't get fuel and boost in to start with. I love k&n filters, but they just don't do that.

Get him to lay some money on the line and find a dyno. You'll have extra christmas money for sure!

Sure!! Can I just pour it in the tank? PM me the details.

Actually, you'd probably have a better chance of selling it to Jeremiah's buddy. That way he'll be at 303+HP.

Well I was only making 14 psi boost with my stock injectors and pump with a 4 inch exhaust and custom intake. After my pump mods I was making 25 lbs. I'm not an expert but it seems like a stock truck makes 14-16 psi of boost

My little truck made 187 hp and 542 tq on the dyno with one turn of the fuel pressure screw. I'm pushing 27 psi on all stock stuff.
I've since deleted the muffler and the butt dyno says it was a GOOD thing. Haven't had it back on a chassis dyno again.
