help me pick my next injector

how you all doin, well im soon goin to start up on fabin up the twins but after thats all said and done i want to step up to a bigger more effecfiant injector. im pretty stuck between 6x16s and 6x14s, cause i would really like to make at least 450hp on fuel but also would like to not have to worry about egts. the twin set will be the hx35/40 hybrid over a s400 72/83/1.10ar t6 flange.
thanks jon.

You haven't said what you're going to be doing with the truck. . ..

In my experience, even with quality injectors (fine atomization, correct angle/pattern, etc), you're gonna need more air than the 35/40 hybrid over a 400 can provide.

I have some Schide 6x.016 EDMs and with a 35/40/14 hybrid over an HT3B, it was way over-fueled at WOT. Stupid smoke and at certain points, it seemed to try to put the fire out till the turbos lit. Stupid EGTs.
The 35/40 exhaust housing is a big restriction with that turbo. You can almost double the flow through the hot-side by going to the S300 setup (assuming a internally gated 14cm housing).

With an S362/14 over the same HT3B, a substantially ported head, big IC and a 181/210 cam, (plus the usual crap), the WOT (fuel only) EGTs struggle to get to 1300*F (pre-turbo) at the top of the quarter mile.

Anything over a 62 compressor in the secondary is may become a lag issue pending what you're doing with the truck.

I have no experience with the S400.

So say the voices.

Might as well do 6x16s and only buy injectors once. I run a set from John Russin at Buddha Power. I don't have any egt issues with my twins setup, though it does flow a little more than yours. You can always adjust your pump, but you can't make your injectors flow any more (without working them over again).

Look into SDX or Low Budget Diesel Performance for whatever you do. Tough to beat their prices and their training (from the one and only Weston).

Low Budget built me a set of 5x.012s that will be on their way shortly. 7mm nozzles at 145* spray angle with the sleeves' sealing surfaces cut down to .030". They were balanced and are popping anywhere from 238-244 bar. All of that for only $450! SDX isn't too much higher in price.

the trucks a toy it never hauls or anything of that nature. now i do plan on porting the head alittle if that makes any diffrence. but really what it all comes down to is how much hp diffrence is between the two? cause im really trying to get to that 450 mark.
thanks jon

I still say 6x16s, but the only person I've heard of running 6x14s is The Head. Maybe he can chime in on how they fuel. You want to make quite a bit of power and I see no reason to limit yourself because of your injectors.
