The bigger the exhaust housing for him, the better. BUT he's going to have to have a wastegate for boost control with that amount of power/fuel. There's no way around it. The biggest wastegated housing he can get without upgrading turbos is a 14cm. It's a must. Now you could always go the external wastegate route.....

I do have both housings so I will have the option to try both. Maybe in the future I'll be able to upgrade to a better turbo when I get the $$$$. I've never seen an external waste gate. Where can I get one and how much are they?

Dan, I'm not sure about which injectors yet, either 190s or stage 3

External wastegates can be had on ebay. Some are very expensive, while others are cheap. You dont need anything fancy. To install one, you drill a hole in your exhaust manifold and mount it. Then run either an open exhaust pipe, or plumb it into your existing exhaust pipe. Its a very simple thing. They work a LOT better at controlling boost spikes too than an internal gate. If you cant find one for cheap then its not worth the money. Save it towards a bigger turbo.
As for the injectors, I dont think the 190's will get you much past 300hp. I'm not familiar with the stage 3's so somebody else please chime in on that. A good injector for you to look at are POD's. If you get the thinner washers and tune your pump conservatively then you could definately pull with them. I think people have gotten up to about 385hp on them. Did I miss anything?

DDP stage 3 injectors are rated @ 55 RWHP stage 4s are 75 RWHP.

Remember I'm looking for 300-325 towable hp.

Thanks for the info on exteral waste gates.

Don't forget the altitude part of the equation. He's going to have a heck of a time spooling an 18.5 at 4500 feet.

I second that. At 4,500 ft he will need to cut off the AFC tang and put in POD's to get it to spool, and it will smoke like a Compton riot (or a Willie Bong) for about five seconds until it does build any boost.

I guess I've set my sights a little too high with the turbo I have. If I can get close to 300hp and stay cool towing I think I'd be happy.. at least for a little while.

From 14 to 18.5 is a huge difference. I have tryed many housings. I only run a 16. I cant believe you havent even considered a 16. Give it a try.

I did consider a 16 but I wanted to work with what I have, plus I still think I'm going to need a wastegate. Either I'm going to lower my hp level a little or wait for a better turbo.
