You have to remove the stamped steel bracket from the 4wd conversion, then the steering box will bolt on with four bolts to the frame. The steering box moves slightly on the frame. I was able to reuse the 4wd power steering hoses by rotating them slightly.

This is the position of the box on my conversion in the '2wd' location.

I suppose you could leave the box in the stock 4wd position and run a different pitman arm, but everything would end up in a rather odd position.

Other notes....

I think if you use the factory steering shaft you might have to shorten it, or at least drill out a pin and slide the shaft in further.

You may have to trim the front edge of the engine crossmember if the pitman arm doesn't put the drag link in a good position.

The 2WD and 4WD shafts are different.

OEM part numbers are (for 1991 to 1993 trucks):
4WD: 4115 165
2WD: 4115 148

Yes, the factory shaft is 'pinned' at one length.

Could you use a pitman arm with more offset???? If one can be found.
