Seeing as, beyond the occasional bearing failure, not much goes wrong with the np205 case, I would start at the hubs and work backwards. Make sure the hubs are locking, check that the u joints in the axle ends are turning, then check the driveshaft, see if it is turning. Im guessing, but unless there was a major clunk , id say your looking at a linkage problem(shifter to transfer case), or youve simply blown a hub. Good luck

Sounds like hubs, take them apart make sure they are engaging. Use a light grease to lube them. also check transfer case is all the way in 4 wheel.

Try 4 low instead of high and see if it goes in.

Don't laugh Are are the tires the same size ?
I had a old ford and we had different tires on the front, right to left on the front.
we changed them and bingo it locked into 4x4
Did you rebuild the hub recently if so there might be to much grease in the hub assembly
Check you your linkage to the kotter pin may have failed

climb under to check the linkage. Try turning the front axle u-joints with the hubs unlocked and turn the front d-shaft by hand. Then lock the hubs and check that the u-joints and d-shaft don't turn. If that all checks out then you have isolated the issue to the t-case.
