Headlights blowing out

I have a 91 dodge diesel and my headlights keep blowing out. First the high beam went out and then the low beams, I replaced them with new ones two days ago and already the high beams have gone out..... What should I check first.........Thanks

hey-Hey!!!,
I think you cover only one possible failure with your suggestion, lack of power to the lights causing them to 'go out'. I think it will do no good if his voltage regulator is failing in charge mode and over voltage-ing things. In any case, with colder weather the regulators seem to get more symptomatic...mine is comming out as soon as I can get a replacement in hand.
cheers,
Douglas

Thank you for your information, this does seem like the results from to much voltage because I'm not losing power to the headlights something is burning them out. I'll change out the regulator and see how it goes........thanks

First thing to check is your battery voltage with a real voltmeter and see what it reads.

My regulator went wild and I didn't lose my lights. It was showing about 17 volts. But I did stop and tap on the regulator and if it didn't release I would unplug it.
