Headlight switch help

Im going the relay route that's been discussed here but I am having trouble getting the old switch out. How does the little triangle shaft and switch **** come off so I can get the old switch and trim plate off? Thanks.

Actually, I think the button is visible on the bottom side of the switch. It's easily palpable as a push button, and it releases the shaft. When installing the switch, the shaft is just pushed in until it locks.

You have to pull the dashboard face to remove the light switch. It's also helpful to pull down the parking brake release lever. Other than that, any disjointed undersized contortionist should have no trouble. I always schedule a chiropractor appointment after I work on one.

Ain't that the truth...why could it not be made a little easier to get in/out and get those electrical connectors on/off.

The last time I changed mine, I also put in relays so I wouldn't have to do it again. That was parked on a cliff West of Berthoud, CO. Short time later the ground wire fell off. A bit later, the mount for the map light broke and it fell in behind the dash. I've had to open a door to get light in the cab since.

I need to pull the dash to work on the heater switching. I think I'll pull the ground wire for the headlamp switch through the dash backing and put it under a screw mounting the switch.
