headgasket uh-oh

Well I went over to my uncles today to show him my new parts and when I popped the hood I noticed anti freeze running down the side of the block. So my question is if I retorque the head to about 125 ft lbs and turn down the pump a little will it be ok for a while til I get a gasket and what not

P.S when I went home none leaked out but I kept the boost under10 psi and there is no fluids mixing yet

Thanks,Andrew

Try the retorque, you have nothing to loose but a little time. I've seen new ones seep that had been fresh with o-rings, then a little retorqe and back on their way. So definatley try the retorque, If there's no fluids mixing, retorqe, if it won't torqe up the bolt(s) may be stretched.

How high of boost has it been running? If its just a tiny seep and the gasket is still intact a retorque may work short term but I wouldnt hold my breath.

Its seen 50psi about 10 or 12 times and 53 or4 a couple time, I'm actually suprised its lasted this long

When i put this gasket in I did the drop test on the bolts and they all rang and they were all in spec on the stretch gage

Drop the bolts on a concrete floor. If they "ring" they're good. No ring bad bolt.

I believe this is from the FSM.

stretched or cracked bolt will have a dull sound due to the change in harmonics, good bolt will ring
