Head is on and torqued.

Had only two screwups (so far). Was using my clutch drill to plug and bottom tap the block holes and got tired, let the tap get angled and snapped it off in the hole! After a lot of prayer and PB Blaster I was able to get the piece out.
The second issue was I hadn't noticed that the front alignment dowel was not in the block until I have the head on and all the the studs and three rocker stands in. The front of the head had motion. I was not happy. The dowel was still in the old head, but hammered flat, so it hadn't attracted my attention. I drove it out with a long 3/8 extension, lifted the front of the head enough to get a screwdriver handle to hold it and my son tried to slip the dowel in there but ended up knocking it down onto the piston.
Had to take everything back off again to do it right, but only cost us about 20 minutes. Wrestling the head off and back on again has made my back a bit sore!

Man glad you got that piece of the tap out of the block...that would have really done you in. Looks good though...those ARP fasteners are sexy beasts!

How much did it cost you to get your rockers machined?

Nothing. My friend owns a machine shop and let me cut them.

I noticed your post about the other head. Did you make sure your new head had the two bolt holes for the throttle linkage bracket???

I believe it does. If not I will be drilling and tapping!

Didn't quite get it done. The boost tube was cracked so I have to make a new one using steel brake line, a flaring tool and by drilling the banjo fitting out with a bit one number higher than the OD of the line. Also couldn't use the angle fitting in the head because hits the pump when trying to turn it... shoulda put it on before I put the head on! To get around that I used a 1/4" compression fitting with pipe thread in the head side and drilled it out. Then I flanged the tubing and it worked great.
Took apart the injectors and cleaned them, smeared then with copper anti seize and installed with the standard crush washers since I forgot to get the thin ones...
Still have the injector line snake den to deal with, and valve adjustment and a few sensors. Try to get more done after work.

I did one yesterday, brought them up to 135 because I was paranoid, but they barely moved from the 125 I had them at. I will check them again before I button her up.

Got the injector lines on, rebuilt the bell crank to get all the slop out if the throttle linkage, basically everything is done on the drivers side except mounting the breather. Next is exhaust manifold and valve adjustment. That's all for tomorrow. Hopefully I can drive it tomorrow on my birthday!
