Any chance the timing marks will be the same from engine to engine? The marks that are on the pump and the one on the case.

Got the spare engine in and running late last night. Now have to see if it pulls like the old one did. I used my brothers powerstrock last week to haul engines to Lloydminster and it had trouble with the load. Powerstrock had better traction and brakes than my old Dodge but definitely could't keep up on the hills.

definitely doesn't have the same power as before. If I got new injectors, what would be comparable to the stock non Intercooled injectors I was running or maybe slightly larger?

If i recall correctly 5x.012s would be comparable but 5x.014s would be slightly better.

what would the 5x.014s do to my EGTs and mileage? The stock nonintercooled injectors the EGTs were manageable and I got about 15 mpg towing a 20,000 lbs trailer.

I'm not understanding why you say it doesn't have as much power as before. IIRC the non intercooled and intercooled had the same power ratings. The intercooler made up for the difference in injector size.

I'm not sure why exactly either but definitely doesn't pull like before. The engine I put in has a few more miles on it than the old one. Blow by doesn't look like it is any worse than the old one. So I think it is because I'm using an intercooled engine with out an intercooler.

Bingo, that's the prob. Do a P/S intercooler and it'll help. 5x.014s with no intercooler is going to be high egts.

Ps intercooler would be a real tight squeeze in front of a 90 rad and I really like the simplicity of my nonintercooled truck. Was fairly happy with the power I had before.

People put the ps intercooler in them all the time. i think you would really like it with an intercooler.

Most of the ps intercoolers I have seen put in dodge trucks have been in 91.5 to 93 trucks, which looks to me to be fairly easy. The earlier trucks without intercoolers and the old style rad looks to me to be substantially more difficult. I like the earlier style grill so would like to keep it

There is a guy here that has one in the non ic truck. Look at the last couple pages of the 1st gen pics thread. Maybe he can tell you how you did it.

Yes I seen that truck. He had to cut up the grill to fit it in there. Not sure I'm ready to do that to this truck. Would water/methanol be a practical solution to the higher EGTs that the 5x.014 injectors would create or how about a turbo that moves more air?
