Having a problem
Having a problem
I have a problem that i havn't been able to figure out. Heres the details: When i get in my truck in the morning it's starts a little hard and then runs choppy and white smokes a little first thing. I start down the road and it smooths out in a minute or two and doesn't white smoke and runs smooth. I thought it might have been a problem with my injection pump but after my old all but stopped working I put a rebuilt one in and I still have the problem. The truck doesn't use any antifreeze or oil so i don't think it's a valve seat or valves or something like that. I think it is just a line or something or maybe my lift pump. I just put a lift pump in not very long ago though and it seems to be working fine. Maybe I just need an electric fuel pump? I havn't been able to figure it out yet but am working on it. I'm gonna put a clear line in on the return to see if it is has air in it. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this?
Air.
This only happens after a long period of sitting, like over night?
Air/fuel leaks can be a royal pain to locate, after a year and a half of hunting on my other truck I FINALLY have mine located. That is a classic case of air in fuel. My suggestion is to start by replacing the injector return lines, followed by the fuel line comming and going to the fuel tank.
Get under it n see if you can see ANY minor little fuel drip anywhere.
I do recommend putting a clear hose in someplace between the IP, and fuel filter.
