hard to get in reverse getrag
hi i have a reman getrag with 4000 miles on it then i broke the center hub out of my southbend clutch which they took good care of me but it seems that the only way to get it in reverse is to turn off the truck does anyone have an idea what that is about you can use all gears noproblem but reverse.

Mine has always been a bit of a pain to get into reverse. Even after rebuilding it its still hard sometimes. I have just always made a habit to put it in 5ht gear first. This brings the input shaft and clutch disc to a stop and then I put it down into reverse. Goes in every time this way. I think the synchro just doesn't work very well due to working through the tall gear ratio. Getting it into 1st can be the same way on mine. Drop it into 2nd gear then up into 1st and it works fine. By putting it in 5th first the reverse synchro doesnt need to slow down the shaft, its already done by the 5th gear synchro. It may help you.

Regardless of type/make of transmission, oft-times difficulty shifting into REVERSE is the first sign of lack of clutch release travel.
This can be caused by low fluid level in the reservoir, a slave or master going bad, a faulty clutch fork, a worn throw-out bearing, a grooved throw-out collar, or just simple out of adjustment.
