Hamilton 181/210 cam? thoughts?
Got a friend that went with a different cam in his 3.0 p pumped 12 valve pullin truck. So he's tryin to talk me into buyin his old Hamilton 181/210 cam that was in it. Said I could still run stock pistons with it and he only had one season on the cam. I was there when he pulled it and it seemed to be in good lookin shape. Said he would sell it for about $450 to me if I wanted it. He joked with me to get rid of my "tractor cam" and let the ol girl breathe. He really got my gears turnin and made me start to wonder how it would run with my setup? Is it worth trying to get and put in? I'm sure it would be beneficial some but is it worth doing? He claimed it help the top end and spoolup a lot and that it'd be great for my higher rpm truck pulling with a VE pump. What are your thoughts? Or should I wait and go with something else down the road?
I would buy it but I would want the tappets too. Seeing as how they wear together. Assuming he ran 24v tappets.
That is the cam that I have and I've got nothing but good to say about it

Through the years I've been told by different people that were very good mechanics that changing out cams "used ones" to either use the lifters that were broke in with the cam "put back in the same hole they came out of" or install new lifters. I personally have never saw a cam that was worn at an angle. I've seen them with lobes wore down, chipped, or pitted but not across the lobes. Lifters are another story, I've seen them wore just about every way conceivable. Just my 2 cents worth. I wouldn't be afraid to run one that is in great condition. Good luck.
+1 on Zack. He told me Colt had a cam more to what I am wanting to do with my truck and to call them.
Hamilton 181/210 Cam ?
re: cam,angle-on-lobes, most cams come w/an almost "unmeasurable" amount of angle across the face of the lobes[ cuts down on "camwalk" and promotes lifter-spin,at least thats the "way it was" in the "Old Days" "Pops"

Our VE fueled trucks don't spin very high. The VE IP is known for it's heavy fueling in the lower engine RPM. That's why I went with the 181/210. It allows more airflow in the lower engine RPMs thus making better use of the lower rpm fueling.
I too, wouldn't run a used cam without the lifters that broke-in with it.
FWIW, Zach no longer offers the 181/210 (niether the original design or the later revised design) as he found the newer 188/220 to be a much better cam for the same applications.
