Gutless

I recently acquired a 1993 W250, Extended Cab, with a auto. I have been able to solve most of my issues with searching and the sticky (death wobble and electrical issues). All I have done to the pump is 2 turns on the smoke screw, and rotated the fuel pin 180*, which only made a slight change. I figured I would wait on gauges before doing anything else, since it is good enough for running around town when I need the truck.

Last night I went and picked my Jeep out of storage so I could get that ready for wheelin this weekend. Jeep and 16' trailer weigh about 4800# combined. I had the throttle on the floor mat the entire ride home. I thought I was towing with a 6.2 GM Top end was about 65mph, and it took forever to get there, as it never seemed to rev. I am not worried about the power for the long term, once I get some mods done. I am worried about driving 450miles this weekend at a snails pace

Is moving the throttle linkage going to be about all I can do to to help without gauges? The lever is bottoming out on the limit screw right now.

Or do I just deal with it for now?

Have you serviced the trans, and is it shifting into OD? If not and it's slipping now, I doubt you'll make it 450 miles with a trailer behind you.

Trans shifts great, OD is functioning as it should. I did not notice any odd increase in RPM that would make me think the trans is slipping.

PO claims fluid and filter was changed 5,000 miles ago. It also has a AUX tranny cooler under the driver side cab extension. Is that normal, or a dealership hack-on?

Are you getting full throttle travel?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DzcO...eature=related

You could advance the timing for more top end power.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZunLqJwWcA

Check for boost leaks. Hows your fuel filter?

x2 with what Cougar said. Boost leak would really make it gutless.

Kinda rules out the boost leak idea, then...

That would be the first thing I would check. That, combined with a sloppy auto will make a real dog.

I think it might be the throttle issue as well.

Could also be that I have not driven a first gen since 1996. I really don't "know" what they really are supposed to be like stock.

Local Napa didn't have filters, so I have to go to the warehouse on the way home.

I assume bad tranny symptoms are the same with a diesel, as they are with a gasser?

Make sure the little tube from the manifold to the top of the injection pump is not cracked or loose.

A trans problem is a trans problem, does not matter what the powerplant is.
