Wow, I hope I didnt start a bad thing with my comments. I didnt mean to. I feel we all would love to have more power but to not cause our local and state governing bodies to make it harder (our older rigs especially) to be driven on the road. The funny thing is with the price of diesel I only drive my dually when the need to haul or tow is required. When I see a stack bellowing out sut for no obvious reason I pray that a cop or politician is not behind them. To me its ridiculous for people to have serious smokers that dont even work with the truck. Why have 500hp to haul grocieries. No haters please. I know its a free (well to some thanks to Obama) country. I have a lot of respect to those who work on and build these awesome and exspensive rigs. But use a little common sense. A time and a place. We all have one common love. Cummins, cant we all agree that we would hate to be a reason that laws made it harder for us to use these trucks?

Me, I would send the letter back with a copy of the emissions test and tell them to tell the person that complained to get a life.

as I said, my truck can be driven in a smokeless setting. and it is 99% of the time. the only citizens who get enveloped are the ones that I can't see out of my rearview mirror.

in these parts, it's prolly just a question of time before one of these icepicks reports me, but there's no emissions testing requirement for vehicles of this age in NYS so I'm not breaking any laws.

does anyone REALLY feel sorry for icepicks who are too damm close to you?

A more mature approach to handling tailgaters is to drop a handfull of marbles through a hole in the floor to persuade him to back off. That is of course assuming your rearward facing rocket launcher has failed.
I use the windshield wiper fluid to get tailgaters off my trailer hitch instead of smoke, they usually get mad and pass with a dirty look on thier face. I just turn the wipers back on and act like the window was dirty lol.

I see a cliff not too far ahead in this thread. Let's keep things on a professional tone and not go off that cliff.

- Y'all play nice and not get all potty-mouthed while demonstrating how low one can go.

Please?

My truck smokes more than I would like, and no amount of tuning makes it any better. I would love it if it didnt smoke at all. I am amazed I have not received one of those letters.
I received one for my 68 cuda, it was still cold and it had a whisp of black out the tailpipes. They had check boxes for stuff like "vehicle was cold and the choke was still on" That one worked for me!

fwiw for my yearly emissions test I went from 3% with pods to 2.2% with the 7x10`s, smoke is a liability in my eyes but it is worth a giggle sometimes. I used to work with a guy (a clean freak no less) who drove a white 3rd gen gasser, used to LOVE putting a stripe down the side when he washed it.
