Got CRAZY death wobble. What causes this?

I have had days where it drives smooth, and days where it drives a little wably at 35-45mph. Well now out of the blue the wable starts at 30mph and by the time i got to 35-37 it was going nuts, like it was going to fall apart. I tried over and over to get it to do it again but couldnt. The later in the day it did it again.

I've checked the frame for cracks and cant find any. The king pins seem good, and wheel bearings are new. What else could it be?

dunno, lol, they are only like 25 bucks a pop. just buy 2 new ones or take off the exsisting ones and see if they are super lose or still have resistance to them. they are a long shot though but still part of the equation.

also check your leaf spring bushings and bolts and make sure teh center PIN isnt jacked up.

Jack up the front end and support by the control arms then shake the front tires side to side. If you feel any play or anything loose have someone shake the front end while you look at the steering system with a flashlight. If you tie rods are bad the wheel will shake but you wont see as much movement in the rod. They usually have play right at the knuckle. Also shake the wheel up and down, play in that motion will indicate a bad wheel bearing. You can check the ball joints by placing a pry bar under the tire and lifting up on the wheel.

It could be something else besides the tie rods such as the pitman arm or idler arm as well. Any of these components gone bad can cause a shaky ride.

I've been through 5 drag link's on mine. and with every one of them my truck got the wobbles when they wore out. the new front spring pack seems to have helped the premature wearing on the links though.

My whole steering system could be shot for all i know. It was a plow truck for so many years, and the front sagging springs show it.
