Getrag parts

Well after searching high and low for getrag parts I have some info to share. This is not an advertisement and I am getting no kick backs. Just wanted to let you guys know where I got my best deals on parts. I looked for the best deal on a getrag rebuild kit first off. I was finding prices in the range of $347- $440 until I came across a place called T&B trans. I believe that the website is www.tbtrans.com I spoke with a guy named Terry... good guy and got my parts out to me right away. I got the complete rebuild kit with bearings, seals, synchros, etc. AND the input shaft shipped 2 day for under $300. Can't beat that deal. The one thing is that this kit does not come with shims. The shims are an extra $16 but still the best deal going. I ran into some problems with my shift cover and decided it wasn't worth hassling with after I dissassembled it and started calling for parts. I started looking for a rebuild at a reasonable price. Most places don't have them. I found one at www.driveline.com for <edit> The price at driveline is $397. Pretty steep. I kept looking and found a place called Bloomenthals in Oklahoma. Got a remanufactured cover with new forks etc. for $225. Theres an additional $100 core that's refundable. I hope that this info will help someone.

Got the getrag back in and it shifts great. Shifter is nice and tight. They did a great job on the remanufactured top cover. Looked brand new. I'm impressed. Unfortunately part of the noise I was attributing to the getrag was my pinion bearing. It's hard to tell where the noises are coming from when you're driving. Especially as loud as these beasts are. Next job will be the rear axle.

Yeah and I have 5th gear back. I've been driving without 5th for about a year. I could get into 5th but then it was a bear to get it out. And if you didn't manage to get it out while you were still up to speed it wouldn't come out at all so you had to start in 5th to get it rolling again. Happy to have it all normal again.
