Getrag clutch options

im putting a getrag in my w250. the tranny on has 124k on it with the stock clutch i was jw what i should get for a new clutch or if i should even get one.

i mostly daily drive and tow a boat here an there with my truck but i want to own a farm later on in life and want my truck to be able to tow. i was thinking of a valair dual disc organic clutch. i was just wondering what other getrag guys have and use them for and if their set up is working and what problems theyve had.

appreciate the info thanks

I have the valair dd organic clutch. It works just fine and holds everything i can throw at it (the picture below with as much 40 psi full throttle shifts as i want).

It is a tad slower when shifting though. It is probably overkill for what you tow. If you do go this route get the "silent" option, It wasn't available when i bought mine. This clutch isn't overly loud except when you disengage the clutch, some people comment on the noise then.

I went with this clutch because i knew i would be going to compounds later on and didn't want to worry about a clutch ever again.

How much power are you putting out or plan to? The sachs in my '93 has held up great even with the torture I've put it through(40k gross several times). I've made it slip twice but I was being abusive. When this one quits its going to be between another Sachs or a Valair just like the one Biltit is running.

Be careful in choosing your clutch. Don't just go crazy just to do it. I've spoken with Dan, owner of Valair, several times. He strongly discourages buying a clutch to meet your long term goals. To much clutch can cause you problems and premature failure.

Sounds like the ebrake cable is out of adjustment. Mine stretched a bit. So i added washers. When it stretches lime that, even the ebrake to the floor doesnt do anything. Adjust that. Then adjust the drum self adjusters.

Tough for them to sell you two clutches if you look ahead

Granted, it can be a fine line depending on what you are doing.
