Gears

I found these on ebay to much time on my hands
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DANA-...QQcmdZViewItem
Now my question is would they work and has anyone ever heard of this ratio before. I would think it would be a little nicer for MPG but still give me a little take off power. I just need some help. right now I am running 4.10 and I know they are going to hurt me when I get to come home and drive my truck, very soon around 45 days I am running 36/12.50R16.5 now but I want to lower it to 33 at the most. My goal is to make a truck that can pull my 10k camper all day long and still have a little fun in the mountains and drive around town, nothing to much more the 10k for now on pulling and not to much racing that is way I was lookiing at these help please

First off, My standard answer..........."By a "Gear Vendor" and have you cake and eat it too".....I did!

2nt, i wouldn't by a used set of gear unless it was for a truck that you used to haul trash to the dump once a year.
You will never get them to run quit.......if they survive the install.
I'm no rear end gu roow but used gears that can't be set back up the exact way they came out................................. never here of a 3.31 gear ratio either.
I have 4:10 gears also and the gear vendor made freeway driving fun again!

Judging by the packaging, they were made in China as well. Probably wouldn't last even if you did manage to get them set up right.

Go with 3.54's. My crew has them and I'm running 315's measuring 33.5" tall. The rpm's on the highway are plenty low enough for economy, but I can still pull a 24' enclosed tralier (maybe 8k) to the races running 70mph with ease.

I wouldnt get anything but genuine Spicer gears. If the gears are in good shape with a good contact pattern, they should go in quitely if the installer knows his stuff.

The 3.31 isnt a bad ratio- you can have your cake and eat it, too- just tow in 4th. Only problem is, I have never heard of a 3.31 for a Dana70. It is available for the Dana80, which I may get someday (FOR the 80 I have). I think the highest for a standard 70 is 3.54. The 3.07s arent bad, but are no longer made, and hard to come by in good shape.

How fast are you wanting to tow your camper trailer? I'd think 65-70 would be about it, and you can do 70 in 4th all day long and not hurt a thing.
