Gear Ratio

Gear Ratio
I am a newby to this site and so far this a great for information on the first gen Dodge truck.
I have been looking into modding the power output of the Farm Truck the wife calls it. Found quite a few links to do just that, add power to Old Blue (my name for the Farm Truck).
I have found an air ride system that I will be installing at a later date.
What I am curious about is how find out the gear ratio of my 93 Dodge 4x4?
Is the injector pump the same as earlier years, and can the pin be notched the same as before 93?
One more question.
With the different gear ratios what would the rpm be at say 50mph? I bought a rpm gauge that works off the alternator not sure if it will show proper rpm out of the box.

It should have 4.10's or 3.54's. A great way to find out if it has no tag is take it down the road. With the stock spring in the pump, 4.10's climb to about 78-82mph. 3.54's are higher but I do not know how much. Before the spring install in my truck, it would do about 80 at most. Now it does 95 with the 3200 rpm spring.

Go here and read how to determine the ratio you have. It's easier than cleaning the gunk off of the tag if it's still there.

look on the axle housing the axle id should be cast into the web around the diff housing on the pinion side..(ex 70 HD, 70, 60) there should be a tag on one of the bolts that holds the diff cover on with some numbers on it, assuming your axle is a dana, that will tell you the ratio.
This may also be true for front axles, dont know cuz i've always been tractionally challenged..LOL
