g56 in a 1st gen and crew common rail thoughts

Ii just picked up a 2wd G56 (3rd gen) trans for my D250. has one one put a G56 in any other 1st gen yet that any one knows of. Also I might be geting me a common rail that might go into the truck... or I want to get a crew cab and put the common rail in that what do you all think? I know the dirty dozen and all the cool stuff we can do with simple hand tools to get the truck goin good. but what do you think about a common rail 6 spd crew cab long bed dually 4x4 divorced ford np 205? do you tink the first time I gout on it the frame would twist into nothing?

I love the g56 idea, gonna do that someday. Commonrail though is just wrong imo. Thats the best part of our trucks is the simplicity.

I'd love to have a commonrail and g56 in my truck.

Preferably a 4cylinder common rail.

If you plan on making big power I'd ditch the g56 in favor of the nv. Just my 2 cents.

My thoughts exaclty, the G56 is a nice driving trans but haven't heard much good on them holding together. NV5600's on the other hand I have seen take more abuse and power than a VE truck could ever put to it. Just MY .02 cents.

really I havent heard read any thing about a g56 cause im never in the 3rd gen forums but I was hearing the same about swaping to an nv. from what i have seen around here with my friends trucks is we have had a main shaft break in an nv with not as much power but always loaded to 10k with tools and transfer tank launching it in 4x4 on the street and we have a g56 truck that drops the clutch in 4x4 with it reved to like 2500rpm on the street and never had any issues with that trans yet. so Im not completly sold on the nv trans. If there is any one that can find me a nv5600 with 87000 miles on it that is 2wd I would sell the g56 2wd with 87000 miles on it. And whats the real story on geting nv parts rite now? I have heard so many things that I dont know who or what to beleive on the parts

I helped build my friends 07 5.9 truck which this year has only used for pulling 2.6 class around the midwest. His g56 was fine with running a 3850 south bend double disc and 12 in. wide tires, but when we swapped in the triple disc and bolted on 16 in. wide tires the g56 made an early exit. He had someone warranty it and it broke again, this time we were just standing on the throttle in 4th on the street. He stripped off 2nd the first time and 4th the last time. Swapped in a stock nv5600 last winter and now he is breaking axle shafts. His 1st place finish at rpm fest got his picture in septembers diesel power.

With enough power and abuse some people could break an anvil. But for the average person a G56 with an upgraded clutch, get rid of the dual mass flywheel, will last a long time! How many are failing on a stock 300hp/600ftlb torque trucks?

Agreed. I also thought the g56 shifted a bit smoother.
