Fyi

I have been running a HX40W with a 18 cm exhaust housing for quite some time on my 91. Well i steped up to a ed turbo & iam not looking back but I put the 40 on my 1997 & it worked fairly well untill it hit overdrive. Then it became a lag master. I have been checking around for a 16 cm housing when I called a turbo shop nearby & they ran the numbers off of the 40 & found a Hx35 12cm housing that would bolt on the 40 the turbo is at there shop where they are going to install the housing & make sure it will work. What Iam trying to say is that they have lots of cores to choose from & this is going to cost me less than 100$ Also they told me they could build the same turbo that ed did for 900$ minus the fancy waste gate I earered a lot of respect for this turbo shop today i dont what to say the name of the shop untill this is a done deal & i see the results. Food for thought I will keep you informed

ED makes a great charger. FYI, "fancy wastegates" are friggin' expensive.

If your HX40 is a real one, meaning it has a 4" Exhaust outlet and a 65mm turbine wheel.

The HX35 housing will not work, as the HX35 only has a 60mm Turbine.

HX40= 60/65
HX35=56/60

no I was informed today they could not find one but they did get me a 16cm housing for a good price They said they can find them to bolt to the charger but wont accept the 65mm whl you have to change the shaft which means you now have a hx35w any way they went out of there way to try or maybe not enough experiance I have to give them credit for trying I informed them when i picked up the turbo today that i did not think they were going to find a 12cm housing for a hx40w & if they did they would have been turbo gods I suppose you could machine one but you would still have a 3" exhuast
