Full power screw egt increase
Full power screw egt increase
Guys i want more power plain and simple i got the die for the power screw. as of right now i run about 1050 egts pre turbo wide open throttle. With two turns on the screw what kind of increase in egt's would i see? i do not have an intercooler yet? Is it practicle to do it at this point? and will i need to worry about anything other than run away. my idle is a little low and i hear this will also raise as well am i mission anything? i figure 2 turns is conservative.
Every pump will respond differently. I went in a half turn at a time to watch for runaway. It could happen after one turn, or it could take 6 turns. But yes, generally 2 turns is conservative and gives a good increase in power. I would still work my way up to 2 turns though.
There are a lot of variables. It depends on the load, turbo, exhaust system, intake path, etc. etc. etc..
I do as was suggested. Turn it in 1/4 or 1/2 turn at a time and see how it reacts.

If it's just a play truck, crank it up and don't sweat the EGT too much. For a trip down the dragstrip or a roll on the dyno, EGT is not a big problem. It's when you hook something heavy on the back and hold it at 1400 for 5 miles that you wind up aluminzing your exhaust from the inside...
I have 3 turns on mine. Im playing a balancing act between occasional towing and playing. Like wanna said, If your not gonna tow, crank it!
Then shop for a turbo upgrade. You will have plenty of fuel.

guys went in about 1.5 turns idle went way up close to run away so i shut it down and backed it off a third of a turn now it idles a little bit higher im thinking about re indexing the throttle down to see how it goes egts are right about where they were before but with more power and a little black smoke from a stand still it will spin the tires which is cool if you dont have 650 bucks in rubber under you......... well i suppose that dont matter its awesome anyway you look at it. should i re index and go farther more power is always a plus i cannot get to my throttle adjust ment so i was thinking about cutting it off by using just a hacksaw blade and indexing it that way or should i just pop the throttle off and redo it. also i was wondering will the fuel screw not allow the idle to go down completely too high of revs? thanks
i took the collar off by cutting it with a hacksaw almost down to the threads. the teeth on the collar started to come off the screw and i jammed a screwdriver in there it came up then i popped it off with a needle nose. also i noticed that the fuel screw isnt a m8 by 1.00 i used the die but didnt work so i just sprayed some lube on the thing and backed the nut off the threads and kept using lube on the pin to make sure i didnt strip anything it went almost all the way to the end (far enough for me) and didnt mess up the nut at all hope this helps someone else
Make sure your low-idle screw is backed off. Mine was out ~ 1/2".
Then loosen up your throttle linkage...
IF those fail - then re-index the throttle plate.
I didn't have to re-index until my fuel screw was 4 turns...Now it's less to save the trans for a while. As soon as the 47 goes in - the screw does also.

You should be able to see 1400+ with the fuel screw way up. I had mine in about 5 turns and it would run away while I was driving it. Turned it down and added ddp4 injectors and saw 1600-1700. With it at 5 turns it would idle at like 1000rpm.
