Since your 91 is a non IC like my friends 90 cab and chassis rig his data may be relatable to your 91. His original window sticker indicates a 22 gallon tank. Can't say if their were options for a larger size.

If you request a build sheet from dodge it will tell you everything that came with your truck from the factory. http://www.dodge.com/dodgecares

There is a lot of confusion out there on this. The 89 non IC donor std cab pickup truck that I used to repower the 85 crew would only ever take 24 gal's and that was filling up the filler neck to the very tippy top. I am fairly certain that when the IC engine was introduced the fuel tank was also enlarged. I've seen several ads on the local craigslist here claiming those tanks to be 38 gal. but I have no proof and have never had an opportunity to put them side by side. I've wanted a larger tank than what I have since I use my truck for a biweekly run from Tucson to Los Angeles and back. If I fill my tank at the AZ state line I can just make it to LA and back for a refill. One traffic jamb or extra errand in Cali and I'm forced to buy their expensive gas. Just did a check of the '93 factory service manual and it says standard pickup tank is 22 gal. and optional is 30 gal. Perhaps the most definitive answer I've come across yet.

No, that would be crawling under your truck and looking for the '30' gallon raised stamp on your tank. I couldn't care less how many gallons you can or could take. The answer is stamped on the bottom of the tank.

Guys all diesel models came from the factory with 30 gallon tanks. On a standard gas truck a 22 gallon tank was standard. On a gas truck you had to special order a 30. The weird thing is RC's came with 34 gallon tanks.

Thanks bgilbert, I did not know that they were clearly marked as you suggest. Is it safe to assume this marking carries over to Gen 2 tanks as well? Something I read suggested they were larger than optional 30 gal tank mentioned in the '93 service manual I referenced. PS the 89 tank in my 85 crew is clearly embossed 22.

24 Gallons according to Dodge and my VIN #. I sure thought it would have been bigger. Soo I may have the only 24 gallon tank built by dodge in 91 if they all came with 30 gall tanks, but this Mississippi Truck didnt. Thanks guys

DHT did you check the bottom of your tank? It wouldn't be the first time Dodge said one thing, but your truck left the line with something different. Dodge = different.

I think mine is 24 gallons too. It takes 6 gallons to refill it from 3/4 on the guage, 12 from 1/2, etc.

I will crawl underneath and check it out though.

Mine takes 20 gallons from just under the 3/4 mark. But I never let it get lower than that.
