fuel solenoid relay
Can anyone help me by explaning where the fuel shut down solenoid (relay) is located? I have replaced the 3 relays that are located on the driver's side fender. Is there a seperate relay somewhere else? Thanks.

Fuel solenoid is located on the pump itself on the rear top side. It has a single pole top with a spade terminal connection point on it. It has 15/16 hex bottom which is worthless cause you'll never get a wrench in there. An easy test to see if it's functioning is to unhook the wires from it and jump straight 12volts to it from the battery. If it clicks, it should be working ok. To my knowledge there is no 12v relay in the circuit, but rather a direct feed from the ignition switch. I've found on some no starts, or engine won't shut off when turned off with key, that the injection pump is eating itself internally and you'll find metal debris in it blocking the travel of the pintle on the solenoid. When you remove the solenoid you can usually loosen it with a quality set of pliers (knipex gator grip my fave) or loosen it with a chisel. Upon it's removal stick a small clean pocket magnet in the hole and see if it picks up metal.
