Fuel Inside The AFC???
Fuel Inside The AFC???
I pulled out my fuel pin today and there was fuel sitting down around the fuel pin. The other times i've pulled it out it has always been dry. It's not running out the little vent hose yet. Can someone tell me whats wrong? Is there a little seal around the little pin that rides on the fuel pin?
There is an o-ring in the bore around the "guide pin" that seals it. Personally, I would just keep an eye on things before going crazy trying to replace it. You have to take the manual shut off lever inside the pump cover out to replace that o-ring, IIRC.
Don't forget to check the sticky!

The manual shut down lever doesn't need to be pulled to replace the oring.
The cause of the leak is the DennyT letting the guide pin travel too far.
I just resealed a pump top on my tuck 3 months ago and it is leaking again already

I am experiencing the same situation. I am running an M&H "M5" fuel pin. I discovered that putting the stock pin back in eliminates the fuel leak coming out of my pump vent. I now have a little "over-flow" jar to catch the leaking fuel. Perhaps other folks are having similiar results with their performance pins.
yeah mine has leaked since I put my dennyt pin in a year ago but only recently has the diesel found its way out the little breather. I just noticed it today actually. It's not much so I'm not worrying about it. It probably only leaks when the guide pin travels down on our dennyt/M&H pins. Once it rides up a bit from lower boost I doubt it leaks. At least for me, mine isn't a constant leak. It wasn't leaking when I was idling my truck earlier.
My little "catch-bottle" fills up very slowly over a long trip. I noticed fuel only leaks when the truck is under hard exceleration. This leads me to believe its the extreme grind fuel pin. I have learned to just live with it and empty the "catch-bottle" back into the fuel tank every so often.
Like said.... bigger travel from upgraded the DennyT or the MH5 etc allow the pin to ride out longer than it ever has in its life. There might be a little rough spot or a groove from where it used to always stop. Now it forces past the O-ring. My dually is doing it after my DennyT. I'll reseal the upper half of the pump soon probably, but I kind of don't care also!!!
mine was grooved pretty good a while back which is why my sig now says "modified" DennyT pin. I've done a little grinding on it to lessen the angle at the top of the slope. I also bowled the bottom a little for a little further travel lol
I'm getting ready to order Denny's pin and expected the leak but figured the o-ring would fix it. Does the leak come right back with a new o-ring because the pin is traveling too far? Can you replace the pin and o-ring and cure it? Or is the leak something you just have to learn to live with? On a side note, how does the Denny T compare with other mods like turning the pump up or a 366 spring? Thanks
