fuel injector pump leak

I have a small fuel leak coming from a small line ( looks like it could be a breather of some sort) on the injector pump. It is a 1990 with 195000 miles. the line is right below the diaphram on the injector pump. Any Ideas? Thanks

If it is the vent to area under the AFC diaphram it may be the "o"ring seal to the small pin that rides on the Fuel pin. I replaced mine a few months ago. It is not too bad a job but it involves removing the top of the IP and driving out a fulcrum pin that is held in and sealed by a couple of hardened steel *****. Since you may already may need to go in there, it would be a good opportuniy to replace the stock governor spring with a 3200 rpm spring. Bosch sells overhaul kits for the VE for about 25 bucks that has the seal and a whole lot more. The 366 spring can be had for about 13 bucks from the same source. The best place to try to get these parts my be from a fuel injection repair shop.

I've been forced to run ULSD since October and I have yet to have a problem that I could attribute to the new fuel except the less power, lower EGT's and less miles per gallon. And of course, NO PRICE BREAK!

If anyone has NOT been using ULSD, the Federal Highway Administration and EPA would like to hear from you.

thats absolutely true lol. but I'm sure laws about not using it aren't valid yet; from what I've heard they are still in the process of getting the fuel to 15 ppm at the stations, as the 500 ppm is still mixed in.

All I know is that the ULSD sure tore my pump up, with leaks from several locations. Got it rebuilt, and no more leaks, but I run a stanadyne additive just to be safe.

I had the same leakage with my pump with the ULSD. Mom's as well, now. I had mine redone by Bryan Banghart, and he seems to have done well. I resealed one on my own last OCtober, right as the new fuel came out, so I should be ok on that one.

OLDDOGS- That leak is likely the AFC guide pin o-ring. Once you get into the housing, the lever off and out of the way, there is an allen wrnech set screw that keeps the o-ring in place. Just wanted to let you know. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to get that little retainer out. Had the old o-ring out with a pick in no time, but couldnt get the new one back in.
