fuel heater gasket question

I took off fuel filter and took a wide screw driver from my dads body shop to unscrew the stud. When I did the housing that the stud is in broke loose and spins freely ,but sensor plug gets caught on the block and stops so I continued to try to get the stud out so I could get to the o-ring I am replacing.I could not get the stud to budge I dont have any idea why it wont come out. Am I missing something any help would be appreciated.

It should just back out. Nothing complex about it normally.
